Privacy policy

Ourofouro is a daily word-loop puzzle. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible — you can play every day without an account at all.

What we collect

If you play without an account, we record an anonymous result for each finished loop — the loop number, the date, how many guesses and hints you used, your time, and whether you solved it. This is not tied to your identity and is used only for the "today's results" totals everyone sees.

If you create an account, we also store: your email address (so we can sign you in by emailed link), a display name (which you choose), a randomly generated friend code, your puzzle results tied to your account so we can show your streak and history, and the friends you choose to add. We never ask for or store a password — sign-in is by one-time email link.

How we use it

• To sign you in and keep you signed in.
• To show your streak, stats, and the loops you've solved.
• To show aggregate "today's results" totals across all players.
• To let you and friends you add compare streaks on the leaderboard.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who processes it

We use Supabase to store accounts and results, and Netlify to host the site. Your data is handled on their infrastructure under their privacy terms. If you sign in with Google, Google handles that authentication step under its own policy.

Cookies & local storage

When you're signed in, we keep a session token in your browser's local storage so you don't have to sign in on every visit. We don't use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

Your choices

• Play anonymously — skip the account entirely.
• Edit your details — change your display name anytime in Settings.
• Delete your account — Settings → "Delete my account" permanently removes your profile, friends, streak, and every result. This can't be undone.

Children

Ourofouro isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
